Itertek have manage all of the permits, traffic management design and co-ordination with TfL Planning and Co-ordination teams for several TfL Cycleways. These include North-South (CS6) phase 2 which runs from north of Fleet Street to Euston Road near St Pancras Station. Cycleway 6 is a mixture of fully segregated cycle lanes with dedicated signalling and quiet back streets running all the way from Elephant and Castle in the south to Euston Road in the north.
Cycleway 4 runs from Tower Bridge to Greenwich where we worked with Kier Highways and the initial phases of Cycleway 9 near Kew Bridge where we worked with CVU. Current projects include the extensions to Cycleway 9 in Chiswick and Brentford where we are working with Hounslow Highways, who are part of Eurovia and are the incumbent PFI contractor for Hounslow Council
One particular challenge is the number and diversity of work sites that can be in progress at any one time - each has their own permit requirements and often changes to one site will have a knock-on effect where subsequent permits need to be amended. The project needs skills in not just TMA permits but also in project management and construction methodologies.
Permits for these projects are raised on our EToNweb® system which is linked to the DfT Street Manager system via the published API but gives us enhanced ability to track and monitor permits
Cycleways are routes that link communities, businesses and destinations across London in one cycle network. They used to be called Cycle Superhighways and Quietways. TFL website
